Artist Bio

Georgia Marryshow is an Illustrator based in Atlanta, Georgia. Growing up, they loved watching monster of the week styled shows, and playing video games, both of which have heavily influenced their subject matter. Their work primarily features horror, supernatural, and fantasy themes, with an emphasis on the American Gothic. Drawing stylistic inspiration from J.C. Leyendecker and Hollywood Monster Movie Posters, they create their work by painting in digital programs, like Adobe Photoshop or Clip Studio Paint. Their work can be seen on the cover of the poetry book Infinite by Katie Bee.

Artist Statement

I enjoy creating visually compelling pieces that get viewers to empathize with the characters and their emotions. I draw the motivation to create  from a desire to see characters who look like me represented within the genres I adore. With each character and story I make, I am reminded of the excitement I had as a child seeing Princess Tiana as the first black Disney Princess, and seeing King T’Challa be the first black marvel hero to have his own standalone movie. My goal, when creating art, is to amplify black voices, and to have people see themselves reflected in areas lacking diversity.
